Colin Herrington - BMS Portfolio Submission
The samples of work in this portfolio showcase my diverse, creative abilities. I have included photography, video production, and website design. These are three areas in which I have challenged myself creatively over the last few years, and I feel they are excellent examples of my progression in these areas. My love for photography began as a child and eventually progressed to the point where I decided to build a website and showcase this work ("Mandela" Photo Story"). While visiting South Africa, I captured a photo story featuring Robben Island where Nelson Mandela was imprisoned for many years, to convey my unique perspective on this meaningful piece of history. This ability to create and exhibit stories through photography is something I value and see as a strength of mine. The second piece of my portfolio submission is a video advertisement of a local recreation centre that I created during an internship with the communications department at my neighbouring university, the King Abdullah University of Science and Technology. I was involved in the filming and the editing of this advertisement. Similar to photography, this advertisement was formed out of a desire to create, this time expressed through the medium of video. To be able to communicate meaningful ideas in a short, concise manner that is video is another strength of mine. The third sample is my website, which I am using to host this page. This website is something I have been working on for the past year as my photography business has grown, and I take great pride in it, as I feel it is a reflection of many of my creative achievements. My photography, videography, and website design have all stemmed from my desire to create and capture meaningful experiences.
